National Hat Day

The Outlawz has a new challenge on Fridays called "Festive Fridays."  Each week they post several upcoming  holidays, fun ones and normal ones.  One of the holidays for this week is "Natioinal Hat Day."   I decided to join in just for fun.  I needed a card for a fellow member of the Red Hats for her upcoming birthday.  Before Deedee closed her shop, I got several image sets, including the one for Red Hats.  This was my first chance to make a card using that set.

I cut the card base using Recollections red cardstock.  Then I embossed it with a Sizzix embossing folder.  My Cameo came in handy for printing and cutting the image and the die cut behind the image.  Once the image was cut and put in place on the card with foam tape, I added Glossy Accents to the ribbons and feathers on the image.  I used Really Reasonable Ribbon and my Bow Maker to make the bow.  Santa brought me a full set of Nuvo Crystal Drops so I added them in the corners of the card base.

Love, Love, Love

Today my card is one I made just for fun.  It is not for any of my DT.  I have begun collecting House Mouse, Happy Hoppers and Gruffies stamps.  I love the little critters pictured on the stamps.  My local scrapbooking store packages up about five stamps a month and sells them as a package deal.  That way I can get a lot during one month.  Since Christmas is over, now it's time for Valentines.  I bought this pack of Valentine paper the other day at Michaels.  The stamp is one of the new ones I got last month.  This is the first time I am using it.  The glitter was a Christmas gift.

I am entering these two cards in the following challenges:
Gruffies and Guests  Anything Goes
House Mouse and Friends Anything Goes
Crafting When We Can   Something New

I used
Recollections cardstock
Recollections Valentine printed paper
Recollections ribbon
Neenah Solar White cardstock to stamp the image
Copic markers
Memento  Jet Black ink

Progressive Challenge for January at the Outlawz

As I am writing this, we are being pummeled with the worst rainstorm I have seen in many years.  The rain is coming down almost horizontal.  It is 11 a.m. and as dark as dinner time.  Great day to make a card or two.

The digi for this challenge at The Outlawz Progressive Challenge has been provided to us by Sandi's Samples.  Thanks, Sandi, for this great image to color for this challenge.  I used a sketch from the Wednesday Sketch Challenge from April last year.

Happy New Year. Peeps.  A new year and a new challenge have started over at The Outlawz Wednesday Sketch Challenge.  This month is something different for the DTs.  Four of us got to chose out favorite sketch from last year.  This week, the sketch was chosen by Darcy.  She chose to use the sketch from April 1.  We also could use any image we wanted.  I chose to use the rooster from a stamp set that Sandra so graciously sent me for this past Christmas.  I think it is so cute.  It came all the way from The Netherlands.  It is by Marij Rahder.

From the Heart Progressive January 2016

Christmas is gone and it's time to move on the next holiday.  I have started on my Valentine cards.  This is a new fold for me - a double gatefold card.  I found the tutorial on The Outlawz site.  It is for the From the Heart January Progressive challenge,  Being a cat lover, I fell in love at first sight with the image set.  It will probably get used a lot more.  It's called Cozy Kittens.  If you buy this month's stamp set and enter a card made with it, you will get the next month's image free.

This is what it looks like closed.

This is fully open.  I will add a personal sentiment on the big middle heart panel.
