DS4J Sunday Release 9/29

Morning Peeps.  It's Sunday and that means it's time for a release of new digi stamps at DigiStamps4Joy.  Head on over to the store and see what great digis Margy and Jen have for you this week.  My card shows only one, Mister- Santa's Secret.

I used green metallic cardstock from American Crafts for the background layer and a tiny piece of gold from the same collection behind the sentiment.  I wanted to do something with "naughty or nice," but I couldn't come up with anything that I liked, so I just pulled out my "ho, ho, ho" stamp.  The ribbon is from Michaels.  I used Copics to color Misteri and popped her with foam dots.

Another CAS Card

I've been having fun doing some CAS cards.  I  have a little problem with them because I think my style is a little beyond what the cardmakers define as CAS (clean and simple).  I like to put a little more on my cards than CAS allows.  Anyway, with a little time on my hands today, I have jumped out of my box and done a couple CAS cards.  This one is for Case This Sketch.

Their sketch:

And my card:

I used Recollections for my card base and Tim Holtz Distress Collection cardstock for the swirls and banner.  The sentiment is from Verve Stamps.  The bling is recollections.

Merry Christmas

I was looking at Paper Playful this morning for some challenge ideas.  I came across this challenge from CAS - Colours and Sketches.  It was a very easy sketch.  I pulled out my Target's brand Washi Tape, a stamp from along ago from Michaels dollar bin and a strip of bling from Want2Scrap.

Here is their sketch:

And here is my card:

I am also entering this in these Christmas challenges:

The Outlawz Sketch 9/25

Hi Peeps.  I'm getting ready to go on a cruise to see the fall colors in the northeast USA and into Halifax in Canada.  I thought this little House Mouse Fall Float stamp would be great to help me get in the mood.  I love House Mouse and fall colors so this is perfect for me.  I made this card as part of my DT cards at The Outlawz Wednesday Sketch Challenge.  Hop on over there to see what the rest of the DT have made using this neat sketch.

For my card, I started with a 5x7 card base.  The first layer is from Recollections.  The dp is from a 6x6 pack from Bo Bunny.  I forgot I had this paper until I was searching through my Fall papers.  The orange is from an ancient pack from Creative Memories.  I used a Martha Stewart punch for the borders.  The sentiment die cuts are done with Spellbinders dies.  I colored the image with Copic markers.  The fall embellies are from Recollections.

Happy Birthday

Hey, if it's Tuesday, it must be Tuesday Throwdown.  Hop on over to see the new challenge and get some great inspiration from the design team.  Our sponsor this week is Whiff of Joy.  They have some really super digis.  The theme this week is "Clean and Simple."  I have a hard time with CAS.  Since I have been on design teams, I have been trying to make my cards not so CAS.  So, I had to back up a little to do this card.  The sentiment is stamped directly onto the card base.  The image panel was printed and cut with my Cameo and colored with Copics.

Happy Birthday

It's the end of September already.  Where is this year going?  Everybody needs birthday cards.  So, why not make a birthday card and then hop over to Tammy's Scrapin Corner and show us what you have done?  Our sponsor for this card is Birdie Brown Stamps.  There are some really cute stamps for sale there.

The dp on my card is from my scrap stash.  I don't know who the manufacturer is.  The ribbon is from Michaels.  I cut the sentiment panel with a Spellbinder die and used distress ink in the same colors as the balloons to highlight the corners.  The image is colored with Copics.

Sunday Release DS4J 9-22

There are some cute images over at DigiStamps4Joy store for the Sunday release.  You can find them here.  I used Misteri - Artist for my card.  I relied on my Cameo for help on this one.  I did a print and cut for the Misteri image.  I had the image of the Eifel Tower already in my library so I printed and cut it also.  I decided that I needed something else to go along with these images and found the artist pallet and brush in the Silhouette store.  The clouds I cut with a die that I have and don't remember who makes it.  The flowers are Prima and their centers are Liquid Pearls.  I colored Misteri with Copics and popped her with foam squares.

DS4J Challenge #76

It is my turn this week to host the challenge at DigiStamps4Joy.  I chose to do a color challenge with a twist of adding either ribbon or twine.  There are a lot of great cards done by the DT.  Hop on over there and check them out.  Then try your hand at using these colors.  This is the picture I used for inspiration.

And here is my card.  I used five of the colors in the picture.

The Outlawz Sketch 9/18

Morning Peeps.  When I saw the sketch at The Outlawz for this week, I thought first of all about doing a masculine card.  I couldn't image anything in my mind so I stared at the sketch for a couple days and then looked through some of the images I have had colored for awhile.  When I saw the dog, the card came to life in my mind.  Of course, the only pet paper I have pertains to cats, so I had to rummage through my stash to find something generic enough that it could also be used with dogs.  I don't know if dogs' paw prints are the same as cats, but it will be our little secret.  I have a 12x12 case full of cat paper, embellies, etc., so I found this paw print paper and stickers.  I have no idea who the manufacturer of any of it is any more.  The strip at the bottom is a piece of glitter paper from one of the pet papers.  The image is one I colored several months ago, before I started writing the name of the stamp company on the back, so again, I don't know whose it is.  I colored it with Copics.  The die cuts are from a Spellbinders A2 set.  The sentiment die cut is done with a Stampin' Up punch and stamped with a Hero Arts stamp.  As you can see, I also flipped the sketch horizontally so that the dog would not be walking off the page, but rather into it.

AHSC Sketch #21

It is so hard to believe that it is time for another sketch at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge.  It seems like I just posted one and two weeks have flown by since.  For this card, I used a piece of American Crafts cardstock.  I used SookWang tape and Glitter Ritz for the sparkly layer.  I cut the butterfly with a Spellbinders die.  The sentiment is a sticker from Elizabeth Craft Designs.

Mini Misteri 'n Mila Choristers

There is excitement over at DigiStamps4Joy this weekend.  Jen Lee has created her 500th image for DS4J.  We are celebrating with using her 500th digi.  Hop on over and check out the great images here.  I received Mini Misteri 'n Mila Choristers as my image to use for this celebration.  Luckily, I had the Our Daily Bread Designs "Amazing Grace" music stamp and an embossing folder with music symbols.   Leave me some love, then go check out all the lovely cards made by our fabulous design team.

My card is 5 inches square.  I cut the two blue layers each at 1/4 inch smaller.  I used the print and cut feature on the Cameo to cut the image with a small margin and then used the offset and cut a blue piece so the girls would stand out from the music sheet.  I colored the image with Copics.  Then I popped them up with foam tape.   I am still learning how to use the Bow-Easy and used it to make the bow.  I hope the bows will improve in appearance before too much longer.  But, practice makes perfect.

DS4J #75

Morning!  Gone a little retro here with this image and design from the 60's.  I remember that era only too well.  I was just starting out in a new marriage and then raising two daughters.  It was a very trying time, especially living in California.  We had a VW bus but not as decorative as the image here.  We used it for our camping trips.  With a handmade table in the back and the middle seat turned around, it was a great dining table.

As you have probably guessed by now, the theme at DigiStamps4Joy this week is the 60's.  Hop on over to the blog for some inspiration and to the store for the digis.  Remember Twiggy?  The moon landing?  The VW bus?  They are all there.

I used a piece of scrap with the spots, layered on a piece of bright orange.  The peace symbol I cut with my Cameo.  I also did a print and cut of the image with my Cameo.  I'd be lost without that machine.  The flowers are from Recollections, the bling from Want2Scrap.  I only stamped the word "peace" from a Christmas stamp.  And, of course, Copics for the coloring of the bus.  The dots on the bus are done with Liquid Pears.  I popped the bus with foam tape to give it a little dimension.

The Outlawz Sketch 9/11

Twelve years ago today, our nation suffered a tragic event.  Take time out today to remember the first responders to that tragedy and the victims and their families.  We all remember where we were at that horrific time.  I was in Montreal, Canada and spent the next several days trying to get home before we decided to take our rental car and drive.

It's time for another sketch challenge at The Outlawz.    My card base is 5 1/2 inches square.  I stamped around the edges of the white card base with Memento Bahama Blue ink, using a stamp from Bo Bunny Liberty collection.  The blue center die cuts are done with American Crafts cardstock and my Cameo.  The image I used is from a set I have that has both stamps and dies.  I don't have the packaging any more so I don't remember who makes it.    Of course, I used Copics to color it.  Then I stamped the sentiment directly onto the card base.

Tuesday Throwdown #164

Hi Peeps.  Welcome back.  It's Tuesday Throwdown time with our sponsor, My Heart Pieces Digital Stamps.  I am gradually building up my stock of Christmas cards and have put this one on that stack.  The image I used is called "Star of the Bethlehem."  I used a piece of silver Recollections Holographic paper with stars embedded in it.  When I photographed the card, the stars reflected a lot of different colors.  The die cuts are done with Spellbinders, using American Crafts cardstock.  The image was printed and cut with my Cameo.  I colored the image with Copics.  Ribbon was just a piece that was in my stash.  Want2Scrap is responsible for the bling.

Back to School

Morning Peeps.  Well, as some of you may already know, Tammy's Scrapin Corner now has two teams of design team members.  I landed on Marc's team so I am posting the odd number challenges, at least for now.  Challenge #79 is my first on Marc's team.  The theme is Back to School and our sponsor is A Day for Daisies.  One of my first loves, after card making, is reading.   So many books, so little time is my mantra.  So what better image to choose than Magical Story.

Materials:
Coredinations cardstock
Neenah Classic Crest Solar White  cardstock
Starfoam Glitter Stickers Gold/Silver
Wild Orchid flowers
Copic Markers
ribbon and pearl bling from my stash

The Outlawz Sketch 9/4

Morning Peeps.  It's time for the weekly sketch challenge at The Outlawz.  I made a couple attempts at using an A2 format.  They both flopped.  So, I went with the square format as shown in the sketch and my first try was a success.  I'm happy with it and that's all that counts as far as I'm concerned.

I used mostly scraps from my scrap bin.  Some of which I have had for so long, I no longer know who the manufacturer is.    I cut the tags with my Silhouette Cameo.  The stamp is from Technique Tuesday and colored with Copics.  The sentiment is from Els.

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge September 2

Morning Peeps.  I just love the sketch this week at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge.  It was a super easy one for me.  When I started to work on it, I had no problem deciding what to do. I had been doing some organizing again and found the felt fusion from Queen and Co.  I haven't used it for ages.  I have a ton of it so I decided it's time to use it again.

The sketch was better to use in a larger size than my usual A2.  The finished size of the card is 6.5 x 5 inches.    I have some card bases that are a little larger than that so I trimmed one down.  The cardstock is from American Crafts and the dp is from Bazzill Basics.  I used Craft Smart ink for the sentiment from Impression Obsession.

VCMP for OWH

This is a new technique for me.  I saw it on the blog hop and had to try it.  If you want to try it, here is the link.  http://donnainksla.com/?p=979  All you need in addition to you ink, paper and stamps is some masking tape.  I am really happy with the bow.  I have such a terrible time making bows.  I used the Bow-Easy for this one and it came out quite well IMHO.  The stamps are from Stampin Up.  For my inky background, I used Memento Bahama Blue.  The blue layer is banana leaf paper.  This card will soon be on its way to my grandson and his wife who will be celebrating their first anniversary later this month.

DS4J New Releases for September 1

The new releases of digi stamps at DigiStamps4Joy this week are phenomenal.  Run on over to the store and grab yourself some of them.  For my card showcasing one of the stamps, I chose to use Misteri With Bouquet.

I colored the image with Copics and used foam tape to mount it onto a scrap of Stampin Up paper.  The blue layer is from DCWV Christmas Glitter Mat Stack that I've had in my stash forever.  The striped dp is from DCWV Garden Party Mat Stack.  The cord is from my stash.  Sentiment is stamped directly on the dp and is from Impression Obsession.  I added a piece of silver glittered tulle.
