Fancy Fold with Handmade Flower

Morning Peeps.   If it's Wednesday, July 31, it must be time for the weekly challenge at DigiStamps4Joy.  Asmah is our sponsoring DT member this week.  She makes some fantastic cards so hop on over here and check out her work.  For her challenge she chose a Fancy Fold with a Handmade Flower.  I chose to use this card called tri-fold shutter card.  I found it in my Cameo store where it was called tri-fold step card, but there are templates available on the internet.  Here is one that Asmah found.
It took me awhile to get it right, but I am really satisfied with the results.  This is what it looks like closed.  When folded, it is 5.5 x 4.25 inches.

And this is what it looks like opened.

I used both sides of one sheet of Basic Grey "Out of Print" paper.  My image is Freesian Booklet from the DS4J online store.  You can visit the shop here.  I colored the image with Copics and cut it with the Cameo.  No more fussy cutting for me.  I am now only using the print and cut feature of the Cameo.  I still have some images that I printed out BC (before Cameo) and will use them up.  The handmade flower was crocheted for me by my friend, Rozy.  Thanks, Rozy.

Something Old, New, Borrowed, Blue

Wow, it's the last July challenge already at Flourishes.  It's hard to believe that this is my last card as the July guest designer.  Never fear, I will be back to enter the challenges now.  If you don't have any of their stamps, I strongly suggest you think about investing in some of them.  They stick to the acrylic block like glue.  There is no worry about the stamp sliding or falling off.  They also stamp perfectly the first time.  No need to stamp several times to get the stamp ready to use.

That said, the challenge for this week is "Old, New, Borrowed, Blue".  Kind of reminds you of a wedding.  Keep in mind you do NOT have to make a wedding card.  Here are the guidelines:

OLD - use something older from your product stash
NEW - use the newest stamp that your just acquired

BORROWED - scraplift a "design" from our Flourishes Gallery (please link the project inspiration piece from our gallery)
BLUE - add something blue on it!

Old - the Martha Steward Punch, ribbon
New - The Dahlia stamp from Flourishes
Borrowed - this card from the gallery

Blue - paper, ribbon

Happy Birthday

Morning Peeps.  It's time for another challenge over at Tuesday Throwdown.  Our sponor for this challenge is Saturated Canary.  The theme is "Birthday Party."  Because I love cats so much, I chose to use Jules.  She is all dressed up in her Sunday best for her party and is holding a kitty that she probably received for her birthday.  I used the print and cut feature on my Cameo to cut the image.

Materials used:
DCWV Girls 6x6 stack
Stampin' Up Primrose Petals
Neenah Classic Crest
Saturated Canary image
Copic markers
Liquid Pearls

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #14

The sketch:
My card:
I really love the sketches at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge.  They are simple and easy to accomplish.  They don't take me all day trying to figure out what I want to do.  Plus, you don't always have to use a stamp.  Die cuts work quite well.
For this card, I pulled the cover off the Cameo and found this flower in my library.  It is a 3D flower.  Once cut, all you have to do is pull the pieces up so it looks 3D.  I added the butterfly in the middle and some rhinestones around the edge and added a sentiment from Hero Arts.  The dp is Basic Grey Recess.  The dp is Core'dinations.  I moved the sentiment down because I didn't want to cover up the flower.

TSC #73

The theme for Tammy's Scrapin Corner #73 is "Use a Digi."  We all have lots of digis so this is an easy peasy card.  Our sponsors for this week are Bugaboo Stamps and Deasy Designs.   I chose to use a digi from Bugaboo.

I used a piece of printed paper from the DCWV Everyday 6x6 stack.  It already had the clouds on it.  For the water, I used border stickers from Reminisce Under the Sea, which I have had for about 3 years.  The sun and the fish I cut with my Cameo and drew faces on them.   I used the print and cut feature on the Cameo to print and cut the image.  Have I said before that I LOVE my Cameo?   I used Copics to color the image.  The sentiment stamp is from Hero Arts and stamped on a die cut from a SU punch.

Sunday Challenges

I wanted to do something with the challenges on Paper Playful today, so first of all I found a sketch I like at Stamping Creations. I am not able to enter their challenge though because it required summer colors.  My colors are more fall.  613 Avenue Create's challenge was for anything goes with a friendship twist.  The others were for anything goes.

I had this little critter from Bugaboo that was just on my desk waiting to be colored.  I had used the Print and Cut feature on my Cameo to print and cut him out.  I colored  him with Copics.  The background paper is from My Mind's Eye.  I used a Martha Stewart punch on a scrap piece of orange.  The ribbon and flowers are from Michaels.  The bling is from Want2Scrap.  I made the sentiment on my computer.

I am entering this in the following challenges:

Unscripted Sketches #27

I was surfing Paper Playful, looking for something to do since I have worked about two weeks ahead for my design teams.  I found this sketch challenge from Unscripted Sketches.  I thought I would give it a try.  I used my new embossing folder from Sizzix, Posies.  The cardstock is from Making Memories.  The image was a precolored one from Dearie Dolls.  It's a lazy crafter's way of making a cute image.  LOL!  The flower has been kicking around on my craft table for a couple months so I decided it was time to use it.  Ribbon is Michaels brand.

I also entered this in using two shades of green.

Christmas In July

Need to get a head start on your Christmas cards?  Then hop on over to Flourishes Timely Tuesday challenge for some really great inspiration.  For my card, I used the Pointsettia and Pine stamp set.

I stamped the image onto a piece of Bazzill cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink.  I took a chance on using Copics to color the image because I've been told it is not a good paper to use with them.  I disagree with them as it worked fine. It didn't run and it blended well.  What more could I ask?  I used a Spellbinders scalloped circle to cut the image and then drew a circle with the Cameo to use for the backing.  The sentiment block is also cut with Spellbinders.  I think the corner dies were from Die-Namics.    Then I used Want2Scrap bling on the curners.  The fancy border die cut is done with my Cameo.  The center of the flower is done with Gold Stickles.  The dp is from a Dovecraft 6x6 stack.

AHSC #13

It's time for another fun sketch at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge.  This one was a little bit of a challenge for me as I kept wanting to put a digi somewhere.  I finally decided that I didn't need to have one and it fell into place.  The flourish was enough for me.  I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut t he scalloped layer and the flourish.  I am really enjoying the Cameo.  The scalloped layer is from Basic Grey, the orange base is SU, the ribbon American Crafts and the flower is Recollections.

Morning Peeps.  It's time for another challenge at Tammy's Scrapin Corner. Fantasy Creatures is the theme.  We have two fantastic sponsors this week.   Skdigis and Milk Coffee.  Visit their shops and see what neat digis they have available.  For my card, I chose to use a Milk Coffee image called "Soya Takes a Nap."  She is such a sweet little fairy and there are many stamps which feature her.

I used:
Recollections cardstock
Neenah cardstock
Tim Holtz embossing folder - Honeycomb
Spellbinders die

DS4J Sunday Release 7-21

Morning Peeps.  It's been a few days since I posted anything.  I've been kind of busy.  Anyway, it's Sunday, and time for another great new release from DigiStamps4Joy.  You can find all the new releases and existing stamps here.  I think all of us know someone who has been a victim of cancer.  For this reason, I chose this image called Misteri-I Care to use for my card.  She is wearing the pink ribbon that signifies cancer.

For this card, I used SU Primrose Petals for the card base.  I added a piece of lace tape from Decollections.  The tape was originally beige, but I used the same color Copic marker as I used in the dress and colored it to match the dress.  Then I added some pearl bling from Want2Scrap to the lace.  The background paper is from DCWV.  I used the print and cut feature on my Cameo to cut the image then colored it with Copics.  I used foam tape to pop the image.  I also cut the flourish with my Cameo.  The sentiment is from Hero Arts.  For her ribbon, I added some Glossy Accents.

Button It Up Shapely

Button It Up Shapely is the theme for this week's challenge at DigiStamps4Joy.  In other words, make a card of a shape other than square and use buttons.  I cut this shape with my Cameo, used some of the new dp from DCWV that I just got, and used some buttons from Basic Grey that I have had forever.  I used the dragonfly image from DS4J.  You can find it here in the shop.  I colored the image with Copics and added some distress ink for the background.

Birthday Fishes TT156

Hi there Peeps.  It's time again for a Tuesday Throwdown challenge.  This time it should be easy for you.  It's an Anything Goes.  Our sponsor for this challenge is My Grafico.  I used five different digis for my card and used the print and cut feature on my Cameo to cut them.  I colored the fish and crab with Copic markers and added googly eyes.  The ocean floor is cork.  The ocean is  "Sunlit Ocean" from Gina K's digi paper Jersey Shore Collection.  The sentiment is from a Craft Lounge collection called "Bubbles."

After you leave me some love, head on over to Tuesday Throwdown see some fabulous inspiration from the design team. Then show us what you can do.

Flourishes Tuesday July 16

Where is the time going?  Three weeks have already passed by for my time as the guest designer at Flourishes Tuesday.  This week the challenge was a little out of my comfort zone.  I don't usually make small cards or very large ones for that mater.  This week the challenges is to make 3 - 3x3 cards.  I struggled with it for awhile then decided to bite the bullet and do something.  I cut three pieces of white cardstock 6" by 3" and folded them in half.  That was a start, but now what?  I stared at these three items for a couple days then decided to cut 3 shapes with my Cameo to adhere to the front of each card.  I used stamps from the "Berry Sweet" and the "Pointsettia and Pine" stamp sets and stamped on white cardstock that would fit inside each die cut.  I added a little Stickles to two of them and bling to the third.

Challenges I'm entering: anything goes anything goes anything goes use your markers

This year is just whizzing by way too fast. Here it is the middle of July already.  Have you started your Christmas projects yet?  I haven't even  had time to think about them yet.  It's too hot to think of Christmas.  Anyway, it's time for the sketch challenge over at Atlantic Hearts.  Hop on over the website and see what the Design Team has created for your inspiration.  It's nice that you don't have any restrictions except for the challenge.  Use whatever papers, stamps, embellishments you have.

Sunday Release Time at DS4J

The new releases are up at DigiStamps4Joy.  When you are finished here, go take a look at all the neat new digis available here in the store.  I used the car with the flat tire.  And, yes, that is actual machine stitching on the background.  I got a Janome Sew Mini and it is the perfect machine for sewing small projects.  It is not a craft machine but just smaller.  You will be seeing more stitching as time goes by and I get more used to using it.  The saying and arrow are computer generated after I took the picture and was getting it ready for the post.  Now I have to go back and see how to get it onto the actual card.

Now...on to our challenge...

The theme this week is "Seeing Clearly" - create a card using acetate.

I actually made two cards for this challenge from Flourishes Tuesday.  The first one uses the new release stamp set for today, Dahlias.  For this card, I stamped the image on a piece of white cardstock and colored it with Copic Markers.  I was not sure what colors dahlias came in so I googled it.  The very first picture that came up showed the flower with yellow and orange coloring.  I immediately fell in love with it.  I used a transparency that was left over from about five years ago when I was doing a lot of scrapbooking.   I attached it to the colored image using brads from my stash.   Then I used Copic markers and colored the flowers that were on the transparency.  I attached this combination to a yellow card base I made using Stampin Up Daffodil Delight.  The picture doesn't show the transparency very well, but it is exactly the same size as the white layer.

For my second project today, I used this tutorial from SplitcoastStampers to create this Shaker Card.  You can find the instructions here

I used a piece of acetate from a clear stamp set and cut it with a Spellbinders die.  It didn't cut all the way through because the acetate was too thick.  I had to fussy cut around the indentations made by the die.  I used Flourishes Berry Sweet stamp set.  You can find it here. I stamped it on the outside of the acetate with Stazon Jet Black and colored the underside with Copics because they don't work with Stazon.  For the inside of the shaker box, I used Stampendous pearlized Mica Fragments.  I cut the outside frame with the same Spellbinder die and adhered it to the acetate.  Then I put foam tape all around the frame, added the mica and adhered it to the base piece.  The sentiment was cut with the smallest die in the set and is also from the same stamp set.  I added a couple pieces of ribbon to finish it off.  The cardstock for the base and the dp are from Bazzill.

Today we have both our Flourishes Finest Design Team AND our Friends of Flourishes Team sharing their "Seeing Clearly" inspirations with you!  Take a moment and leave some love on all of our designers' blogs for your chance to win this gorgeous new stamp set.

Have fun hopping along and good luck!

This week's sketch:

This was a very easy sketch especially since it called for stripes.  I had this piece of paper in the DCWV Girl 6x6 stack.  I added a ribbon and the heart on the sentiment.  The sentiment is from Hero Arts.  The wording along the top all refers to love so I thought the I love you sentiment would be perfect here.

Sunday Release for July 7

Hey peeps, it's time for the Sunday release over at DigiStamps4Joy.  Come on over and check out the new digis and while you're there, take a look at ALL the fabulous digis offered.  For my card this week, I chose to use "Misteri - All Dressed Up."  It's Jen Lee's latest in her Misteri series.

First of all, I used the print and cut feature on my Cameo to do just that - print the image and cut it out.  I realized that I have been using a lot of blues and pinks in my cards and decided to go for a different look this time.  I used various YG (yellow-green) Copic markers for this digi.    Some time ago, I was experimenting with different folds for cards and had this yellow tri-fold just lying on my table since then.  I decided to put Misteri on the one flap and cut a flourish to put behind her.  The sentiment is from a stamp set that has not even been released yet over at Flourishes Timeless Tuesday site. The flowers are by Recollections.

Make 'N Take Today

This was today's Make 'n Take at Scrapbooking Made Simple.  It was very easy to use.  All you needed to do is to know your numbers in order up to five.  I think we all can say we do.  It was made with a new item from Hot Off the Press.  They call it 3-D Papier Tole.  I've hear it called decoupage.  You just pop each layer with Craftworkcards Candi Fix which is a very thing foam.  It is also very small (1/4" x 1/4") so it fits in lots of tiny places.  The collection I used was called Strawberry Jam.  It coordinates with HOTP's 12x12 Picnic Paper Pack.  I bought enough of the supplies to make 6 cards.

OWH Midweek Throwdown Color Challenge

OWH's The Stars & Stamps Blog is having their weekly Midweek Throwdown Challenge. This week it's  a color challenge.  The  colors to are red, white, blue and kraft.

I'm going to use my card as an  Any Hero card.  I'll write a note of thanks to a member of the military for their service.  I have a box just about ready to go so I'll put it in there and  hopefully get it mailed on Friday.

I used the Bald Eagle from DigiStamps4Joy.  I did the print and cut feature on my Cameo to cut the eagle and Copics to color it.  I popped it on the card with foam tape.  The kraft paper is Recollections and the dp is Bo Bunny.  I found the ribbon in my stash.

You're the Apple of My Eye

Welcome peeps.  Challenge #70 over at DigiStamps4Joy is the first challenge that is being presented by a design team member.  Desire jumped in to be the first to "own" a challenge.  She is really great at shaped cards and paper folded embellishments.  She has included a tutorial on making double pin wheels for this challenge.  I didn't use the one she posted, but one she calls pinwheel flowers.  You can check out the great tutorials on her blog here.  Although she shows she finished off the flower with a brad in the center, I opted to leave the brad off.   The image I'm using is by JenLee from the DS4J store.  It is called "Apple Annie."

I chose to use a fancy fold card, called center step card, for my card which I cut with  my Silhouette Cameo.  The images and apples are cut using the Print and Cut feature on the Cameo.  The background for the image is from the Cameo also.  Can you tell I'm having a great time with the Cameo?  I printed the sentiment on my computer.  The images are colored with Copic markers.  The dp is from Bazzill and the white card base is Recollections.

TT 154 Stars & Stripes

The theme of Stars & Stripes at Tuesday Throwdown this week was great for another patriotic red, white and blue card.  The sponsor this week, Robyn's Fetish, has images that made baseball and apple pie  go right along Independence Day and stars and stripes.  I used the apple pie stamp and colored it with Copics.  I cut and layered it with Spellbinders Labels Twenty-Six dies. The striped paper is from Bo Bunny Liberty 6x6 collection.  The sentiment is a Hero Arts stamp.  I popped the sentiment up to give a little texture.  Stars have been in my stash for a long time and I don't know who made them.

Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge - July 2

Hi Peeps!  I am thrilled to have been chosen to be the Guest Designer for the month of July at Flourishes Timeless Tuesday.  The theme for this week is "Going in Circles."  The challenge is to create a circle card.  I used the bunch of violets from the "Sweet Violets" stamp set.  It's a great set with these violets, some smaller violets and leaves and several sayings.  Go on over to the website at and check out the stamps.  I really like the stamps because they stick like crazy to the acrylic block.

I used my Cameo to cut all of the diecuts that I used on this card.  The cardstock is from both Recollections and American Crafts.  I colored the image with Copics.  The bow is from Hero Arts; the little flowers and bling are from my stash and have long since lost their original packaging.
