Laundry Day

Good morning, All.  Sorry to post this so late today, but it has been quite a busy weekend so far.  I have been attending a three-day crop at the scrapbooking store and have not had much time to get to my computer.

This image is from Margy at DigiStamps4Joy.  It is called Laundry Lass and you can purchase it here.  Since I love cats so much, I decided to use it for my DT design for this week.

Tammy's Scrapin Corner #54

Good Monday morning, all.  It was a relatively quiet weekend.  My biggest excitement was breakfast with my stepdauhter on Saturday.  At least our rain is over, after a couple days of gloomy, wet weather.  The week being Holy Week will see me at the various services in church.

St. Patrick's Day is over and we turn our thoughts to Easter.  Over at Tammy's Scrapin Corner this week, we are embarking on Challenge #54.  The theme is Easter.  To me, Easter is more than bunnies and chicks in baskets.  It represents the cornerstone of my faith, the Resurrection of Jesus from the dead and opening the way for me into heaven.  So I chose to use this stamp called "Large Cross with Flowers" from Eureka Stamps.

Materials used:
Recollections cardstock
GP110 cardstock
Unknown ribbon and fiber
Copic Markers
Spellbinders Grand Labels Eleven

Happy St. Patrick's Day all!  I do not have a green card for today because it is release day at DS4J.  Check out the new designs.  These flowers are among them.  Grab one or two or however many you want and then show us here what you do with them.  I saw this card design somewhere on the web  some time ago.  I printed it out and saved it to use at a later time.  Well, that time finally came and I found it fit these flowers perfectly.

Tuesday Throwdown #138

Mornin' all.  Glad you found your way here.  This is the card I did for Tuesday Throwdown Challenge 138.  The theme is Piece it Together/Use paper piecing.  Our sponsor for this challenge is Fred She Said.  I chose to use Easter Chicky stamps.  I pieced the egg shell with dp from a pad I bought at Michaels.  The other dp is from the same pad.   I made the center step card base with Core'dinations.  The egg shapes, sentiment label and flourishes are from Spellbinders.  Buttons are from Stampin Up.  The rosette is from a pack I found on the dollar bin at Michaels.  Twin is from WRMK.  Hero Arts makes the sentiment stamp.  I colored the chick with Copics.

The Outlawz Color Challenge 3/12

The Outlawz Tuesday Color Challenge for this week presented a challenge for awhile for me.  That is, until I pulled out my poppy stamp set from Hero Arts to do a challenge for a different site.  The challenge was to use the colors orange, chocolate and gold.  I looked through all my dp and couldnt find anything that I thought was good enough for this challenge.  So, to me that meant that the image had to be the main idea.  In a class a couple weeks ago, we used gold leafing pens.  I haven't done much with it since I bought it a couple years ago so I pulled it out.  I cut a piece of Stampin' Up
Chocolate Chip the size of my card base.  Then I cut another piece of the same paper a quarter inch smaller on on the top and bottom.  This smaller piece, I edged with the gold leafing pen.  After I colored the image with Copic markers, I cut it smaller than the gold leafing so that it formed a frame.  I added a ribbon in brown and then adhered the whole thing to the card base.

I'm entering this card in the following challenges:

Tammy's Scrapin Corner Challenge #53

This week the challenge at Tammy's Scrapin Corner is to include a shamrock on your card.  Since it is so close to St. Patrick's Day, that did not present much of a problem.  Our sponsors for this challenge are Milk Coffee and SK Digis.  I chose to use Charlotte with Flower and Bird by Milk Coffee.

For the card base, I used Core'dinations Amazon.  I cut it with my Silhouette Cameo, using the Clovers Card cut file.  I had to adjust the size to fit my needs, but it still cut okay.   Since the clover panel is actually a cut out, I backed the front section with a piece of white cardstock to highlight the clovers.  The dp is from Reminisce.  I used my Copic markers to color the image and foam tape to pop her off the paper.  The gold edging is done with Krylon Goldleafing pen.  The sentiment is from The Paper Company.  For a little added sparkle, I added Glitter Ritz to the bird, the flowers, the ribbon and the hearts in her hair.

Craftyhazelnut's Christmas Challenge

I have been chosen to be a Guest Designer on Craftyhazelnut's Christmas Challenge for this week.   I can never pass up a challenge to make a Christmas card.  The sponsor for their challenge is DigiStamps4Joy.  I am a designer for DS4J.  You can check out the fabulous digi images in the store here.  I chose to use Santa's Helper.

I wanted to do a step card so I googled it and found this tutorial for a Front Panel Side-Step Card.

I simply cut a piece of 12x12 white American Crafts cardstock in half for the card base and followed the directions in the picture.  I used my craft knife to cut the slit, but you can use your trimmer if you feel confident enough to get it measured correctly.
I have had the printed paper for so long, that I no longer remember the maker.  The other white and the red cardstock are from Recollections.  I cut the panels with Spellbinders Resplendent Rectangles.  That is rapidly becoming my favorite die set.  I colored the image with Copic markers and used Barn Door Distress Ink in the background.  The greenery is cut with a Martha Steward punch.  I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut the flowers in two sizes in both red and white, then layered them alternating colors.  The sentiment stamp is from  KaiserCraft.   I stamped it on plain white then cut a penant freehand.  Same for the red layer.

Just For Fun

Once again, I decided that I wanted to do something that was not for a DT.  I found three sites that would work together. Use Die Cuts sketch Color scheme

The Sweet Stop

I saw the challenge for The Sweet Stop while I was surfing for something else.  I really liked the sketch so I thought I would take a break from my DT duties and go for this challenge.  Since it's almost time for the spring wildflowers in the desert, I used my old tried and true poppy stamp from Hero Arts.  I am totally in love with this stamp and have just about worn it out.  I colored it with my Copics, added some orange ribbon and a sentiment from Hero Arts.

The Outlawz 3/5

The colors at The Outlawz Tuesday Color Challenge are black, light brown and white, with a vintage twist.  I needed a sympathy card and those colors just lent themselves to this use.

The brown dotted cardstock is from Core'dinations.  It is embossed with the dots so I sanded them to add a little more texture.  I distressed the edges with the Tim Holtz distress tool.  The die cuts are from Spellbinders.  The stamp is from Inkadinkado Spiritual Sketches. The sentiment is from Sweet 'n Sassy.
I entered this in the following challenges:

Tammy's Scrapin Corner 3/4 Challenge #52

This week at Tammy's Scrapin Corner #52, the challenge is red, green and a ribbon.  Our sponsor is QKR Stampede.  My image is called "Irish Bear."  At first, I thought it was a weird color combination for so close to St. Patrick's Day.  But I finally made it work for me.  I chose to do a Z-fold card.  I started with a 6x12 inch piece of white paper and went from there.  I had a tutorial I found on the web, but it got to a certain point and then didn't make sense.  I figured it out though.  Our guest designer for this challenge is Dayan Marin.  You can find her fantastic cards here:

How to:
1.   Fold the 6x12 paper in half so that the outside of the card is on the inside.  Don't worry, it will not always be that way.
2.  Fold one of the squares in half again.  Now the outside is outside again.
3.  Cut a square of cardstock slightly smaller than the 6x6 square and the 3x6 rectangle.
4.  Cut a piece of dp slightly smaller than the papers in #3.
5.  Adhere these papers to the square/rectangle.
6.  Cut a rectangle 4x6 from white cardstock.
7.  Punch one short end of the 4x6 rectangle.
8.  Cut a piece of cardstock 4.75 by 3.75 and adhere it to the punched piece.
9.  Cut a piece of dp 4.5 by 3.5 and adhere it on top of that piece.
10.  Tie a ribbon around this piece just above the punched part and adhere it to the 3.6 rectangle.
11.  Add a flower or other embellishment toward the top of the 6x6 square so that when the card is open, the top of the 4.6 piece tucks under the flower and it will stand up.
12.  Add your image.
Materials used:
Recollections red cardstock
American Crafts white cardstock
unknown dp
Recollections ribbon
Copic markers
Recollections flower
 Stampin Up button

DigiStamps4Joy Sunday Release 3/3

Good Sunday morning, Peeps.  I'm glad you found your way here today.  DigiStamps4Joy has a new release for this Sunday.  I have used just one of the great digis for this week.  It's called Bath Time.  You can get it here

I'm sorry to say, I have had to reactivate the word verification option for my blog.  I was getting way too much spam.  I do not usually open comments from Anonymous, but once in awhile I hit publish instead of delete.  I ended up with a virus recently.  I know the verification is annoying, but it was expensive to have my computer fixed.  It was getting to be 5 or 6 a day, some quite abusive and/or sexual in nature.  So, if you want me to read your comment, please don't use Anonymous.  I won't see it and I love reading them.

The card is an easel card, but because the base is white, it didn't show up on my usual white background.  I set it on a piece of black cardstock to photograph it.
I used Copic markers to color the image and put Glossy Accents on the water to make it shine.  The embellies are from Jolee's Boutique Bath Time dimensional stickers.  The shapes were cut with Spellbinders and the sentiment is from The Paper Company.
