DS4J Freebie Friday

Digi Stamps 4 Joy is having a mini competition on Facebook starting today and running to the 14th (Valentine's Day).   If you haven't seen it yet, hop on over to the DS4J store and see what the image(s) for Freebie Friday is/are.  See what fabulous designs the DT created.  Chose which image(s) you want to use.  Then create something using the image(s) and post it to be eligible for a drawing for free images from the store.  We'd love to see what you do with the images.  It's only a freebie for three days so hurry and get yours.

Here is what I did using the box template, the bee and a sentiment from the set.  The first shows the box top with the box closed.

The next is the inside of the box, ready for that special candy for a special grandchild on Valentine's Day.

The dp is from Bo Bunny.  I colored the image with Copics and added a little rick rack from my sewing box.

Avadares Challenge Blog for February

The challenge for Avadares for this month is St. Patrick's day or green. I combined the two. Sara Dawn provided this image called Shamrock Song for the challenge. You can find it in her store. I colored it with Copics. The sentiment stamp is from Hero Arts. I used Spellbinders to cut the image and the layer under the image. Stampin' Up! ticket punch was used for the corners of the card base. I pulled out an old Creative Memories punch to punch the hearts for the shamrocks.

Lady Anne's Stamp - Anything Goes

For this card, I decided to try the faux leather once again.  I used Vintage Photo to give the leather effect.  The image is from Digital Delights by Louby Loo.  I colored it with Copic markers, added the button and corner die cuts from Stampin Up die, and twine from WRMK.

4 Crafty Chicks Recipe Challenge

It's Thursday and I have some time on my hands.  I checked out Feline Playful and found a couple of challenges to enter.  I made this card using the recipe for the 4 Crafty Chicks challenge - 1 pattern paper, 2 colors (green and yellow) and 3 buttons.

I'm also entering this in - Anything Goes

Faux Metal

Always wanting to try something new, I tried the tutorial on faux metal that is in the January/February issue of Through the Craftroom Door.  It is only one of the fabulous tutorials in this issue.  If you have not heard of it, go here and check it out.  You won't be disappointed.

The tutorial was on how to make an embellishment look like metal.  It is a very simple techinque.  So go check out Through the Craftroom Door to see how to do it.

DS4J - Anythiing Goes - #59

DigiStamps4Joy Challenge #59 is Anything Goes.  I chose this cute Bunny Love image from the DS4J store.  It's called Bunny Love.  It would work for just a simple greeting or for a love themed card for Valentine's Day.

I made this a little larger than I usually do.  It is 6.5 x 5, so it will not go to Operation Write Home as most of my cards do.  I sanded the dotted cardstock to make it pop a little.
Materials Used:
White cardbase
Core'dinations cardstock
Recollections cardstock
Spellbinders Heart Squares Die
Spellbinders Nested Penants Die
Ribbon from unknown source

Tuesday Throwdown - Bling It On

Hi everybody.  So glad you could join me for this challenge from Tuesday Throwdown.  Our sponsor for this challenge is Lily Patch Stamps.  This image is called "Flower Girl."
For this card, I used Echo Park Walk in the Park 6x6 paper pad.  The yellow cardstock is from Bazzill.  The die cuts were cut with Spellbinders Marvelous Squares.  The ribbon is from American Crafts and the bling is from Want2Scrap.  I used a sentiment from Hero Arts.  I colored the image with Copic markers.

The Outlawz Color Challenge - January 29

This week's color challenge at The Outlaws is to use Green, yellowish tan and gray with a Twist: Friendship.

Easy peasy.  I used a sketch from Mojo Monday, Spellbinders dies and a Hero Arts stamp.  The plain cardstock is Core'dinations and I don't remember the dp.  It was from one of my 6x6 pads.

Tammy's Scrapin Corner #47 - Jan. 28 - Buttons

Good morning, followers!  Glad to see you could join me today.  I'm here for Tammy's Scrapin Corner.  The challenge for this time is to use buttons.  I used the Cake 'n Ice Cream image from SK Digi's

For the background, I used 6 x12 printed paper I got a few years ago when I bought my first Cricut.  The blue die cut is done with Spellbinders Resplendent Rectangles and Heidi Grace printed paper.  The other die cut is Spellbinders Scalloped Circles.  I colored the image with Copic markers and sponged the edges of it with Spun Sugar Distress Ink.  The whipped cream on the ice cream and the white frosting is Ice White Pearl Pen.  The ribbon is from an unknown source.  I got it in a ribbon swap a couple years ago.  The button is from Stampin Up! I put embroidery floss in the holes of the button.

OWH Sketch 156

It's been a long time since I did a Stars and Stamps sketch for OWH.  I thought this sketch was calling to me so I gave it a try.  I bought these stamps and matching dies awhile back.  Unfortunately, I took them out of the packaging and don't remember who makes them.  The cupcake stack was perfect for this sketch.  I stamped it, cut it out and colored it with Copics.

The Outlawz - January 22

The challenge for this week is to use the colors Orange, Fuscia and Bubblegum Pink and the  Twist: "Don't be Square" Make a square card or project.  When I first saw the colors, I thought "Yuck.  What can I do with that combination?"  I looked at it for several days before I decided to look through my stamps to see if there was something I could do.  I found the stamps by Stamps Happen that I got at a garage sale a couple years ago.  An idea formed.  Of course, I completely forgot the twist - AGAIN and made it A2 size.  When I photographed it, I realized my mistake.  I took a 5.5 inch square card and adhered it to the front.  Instant square card.  At least I remembered the watermark.  Progress is underway

Materials Used:
Premade square card base
Bazzill cardstock
Copic markers
Spellbinders dies
ribbon from my stash

I cut the card base with my Silhouette Cameo and lined the front with white cardstock.  I used one of the cut out hearts on the sentiment panel.

It's Time to Kraft for Avenue 613

Avenue 613 Create's challenge for today is It's Time to Kraft, meaning use kraft paper for the project.

I used kraft paper for the card base.  I had already colored the Hearty Moose stamp from Eureka Stamps with Copics. I used Spellbinders Resplendent Rectangles to cut the image out.  I cut the border with a Martha Steward punch, threaded a piece of grosgrain ribbon through it and added the Recollections bling along the side.  The sentiment stamp is from what used to be the dollar bin at Michaels.  I think it's the $1.50 bin now.

Sunday Creation

I was inspired to do this card by the January Bingo Challenge on Chase the Catch the Bug challenge.  Once finished, I decided to check out Feline Playful to see if I could use it for any other challenges.  I found four that would fit the card.  I wanted a shape other than the usual, so I cut a card using the scallopped heart die from Sizzix.  I then cut a smaller heart out of pink because I needed something pink.

Here is the bingo card from Bugaboo.  I used the diagonal top left to bottom right - no patterned paper,  Bugaboo image and starts with p (pink button, paper, twine).

And my card:
Materials used:
Sizzix scallopped heart die
Recollections cardstock, lace

DS4J - Oh My . . . How Time Flies #58

I had several ideas for this challenge on DS4J to create something showing "Oh My . . . How Time Flies."  I had at first thought to use a clock with wings.  I have several clock materials: paper, embossing folder, stamps.  Then I decided that most people would have that same idea.  I checked out the DS4J store and found this beautiful verse for a 100 year old person.    Looked through many sketches and found one I like.  However, the end product looks nothing like the sketch I started out with.  That happens often.  Also, I wanted to use some materials that I have had for a long time, paid a lot for and put on the shelf unused.  I pulled out my stash of Shimmer Sheetz by Els.  The piece I used for my background was exactly the same size as the card bases I had so I went from there.  Since there was a butterfly in the image, I pulled out the Spellbinders Butterflies Circles.  I printed the image on Neenah Classic Crest Solar White paper and cut it out with the die.  I colored it with my Copics.  I used the tiny butterflies from the die for accents on my background.  I forgot to attach the ribbon before I adhered the Shimmer Sheetz to the base so I ran the ribbon all around the top of the card.  I made the bow by just folding ribbon back and forth a couple times and tieing it in the middle with a piece of silver string from my stash.  I am pleased with it.  Now I just have to find someone who is going to be 100 years old soon to give it to.

Sunshine Mail for 1-15-13

Hi, I'm so glad you could join me for this challenge at Sunshine Mail.  I came across a great site that makes and sends cards to children with health issues and/or in homeless shelters.  I have sent a couple cards for children.   It touched my heart so I contacted them and said I would like to be on their DT.  I was accepted and have finally managed to produce my first card for a challenge.  The sponsor for this challenge is Bugaboo Stamps.

I printed out the image, colored it with Copic markers and then fussy cut it.  I popped it with foam tape.  The "hill" is just torn paper. I added the Stickles to the hill to give it some dimension.  The sentiment is also fussy cut.
Materials Used:
Bugaboo digi image
Stickopotamus Snowflake stickers
Bo Bunny dp
Recollections cardstock

Frosted Lace Stickles

The Outlawz January 15, 2013

This card is for The Outlawz color challenge on January 15, 2013.  I used a piece of Color Me Swirls from Hot Off the Press.  I used green and violet Copic markers to color it.  The medallion is cut from Spellbinders' Spectacular Spin dies.  They are the cut, fold and tuck line.  This was the first card I made with this die.  It turned out better than I expected.  I found out I had to use wax paper in the sandwich to get the die cut to pop out of the die without tearing.  I ran a thin line of sookwang tape around the outside of the violet die cut and added some fiber I found at the LSS.    The sentiment die is also from Spellbinders. The sentiment is from Hero Arts.

Tammy's Scrapin Corner - Challenge 45 Punch Card

Morning followers!  I'm glad you were able to stop by today.  The theme for Tammy's Scrapin Corner for this challenge is to use a punch to make a card.   Come on over and see what the DT have created.  The sponsor for this challenge is skdigis.  I used Queen Bee in Love.
I fussy cut the digi, colored it with Copics and popped it with foam tape.  My Cameo is sitting here thinking I should have used the print and cut.  Maybe later today, I will actually learn that feature.  I also popped the sentiment.  I pressed Glitter Ritz into a strip of Sookwang tape and burnished it with my finger. The punch is from a set by Martha Stewart that I got on HSN about a year ago.
Materials used:
Martha Stewart punch along right edge
Core'dinations cardstock

Two new digis are being released today in DigiStamps4Joy store.  Check them out.  There is an adorable girl, Catherine by Jen Lee, and New Beginnings by Margy.   For my card, I used New Beginnings.  It's a great digi for spring.  I'm dreaming of spring.  It has been unseasonably cold here.  Being used to at least the 50's during winter, 29 is quite cold.  Anyway, I digress.  Here's my creation.

The Outlawz Color Challenge January 8, 2103

The Outlawz Color Challenge for this time is to use two shades of blue and add texture.

Two Shades of Blue and White Twist: Add Texture

The papers are Bazzill Basics from the Huckleberry Pie 6x6 collection.  I really like the papers in this pack and have used them in several cards.  The image is from DigiStamps4Joy and the sentiment is Hero Arts. The die cuts are from Sizzix.  The rhinestones are from Want2Scrap.  The texture is an unnamed one I found at the local scrapbook store.

Tammy's Scrapin Corner - #44

Welcome to Challenge #44 for Tammy's Scrapin Corner.  The theme of this challenge is to create a manly card.  One of the sponsors is  QKR Stampede.  I chose the image Going Fishing.  It was a fun card to create.

The card is an A2 size.  I cut the plaid at 4 x 5.25.  I used the sheet that looked like denim jeans for the background for the image.  I used the Tim Holtz distressing tool around both dp and adhered all three pieces to the A2 (4.25x5.5) card base.  Then added the three buttons.  I didn't feel it needed a sentiment.

Materials Used:
WRMK 6x6 pad Vintage-T
