Operation Write Home #140

I have been on an Any Hero card kick this week.  I still had the paper out from yesterday's card so I just used it again for this one.

A New Any Hero Card

Yesterday while I was sitting in the waiting room at the hospital while Janet had further back surgery, I went through several Card Maker and Paper Crafts magazines looking for cards I might like to try.  I found one that would make a great any hero card.  So, today, I got busy and created it.  I used the K&Co. Americana Star Damask paper that I bought last year, not realizing there were 25 sheets in the pack I bought.    The stars were cut with the Sizzix star die.  The ribbon was from a spool at the scrapbook store.  The sentiment was from a set from Pink Stamper.

Happy Haunting

Lady Anne has decided to design a new page.  She calls it Lady Anne's Challenges.  This is for the Friday Sentiment challenge for this page.  The challenge: Theme Halloween - Twist two dies and use a sentiment on the front.

I used three dies actually, the background, the banner for the sentiment and the fence.  The image is from Sandy's Samples.  I colored it with Copics.  I added Perfect Pearls to the black frame.  The sentiment is computer generated.

Butterflies for Fall

We made this card last night in Linda Howard's class at Scrapbooking Made Simple.  I really liked the technique and it just went right along with the challenges I intended to enter this week, especially the colors for The Play Date Cafe.  To do the background, we stamped the image with black pigment ink and embossed it with clear embossing powder.  When it was ready, we used distress inks to add the color.  Then we cut the purple die cut in half to use as a shadow for the image.  The butterflies were fussy cut.
I am entering this card in the following challenges:
The Play Date Cafe #151 - Color Challenge

2 Sisters Challenge Blog - Things with wings with optional glitter.  I did not use the glitter

Avadares October Challenge

The challenge was to use a theme that indicates that you are grateful.  I used Sara Dawn's Thank You Mr. Sun digi and added a grateful for you sentiment from Verve Bountiful Harvest set.  I colored the image with Copics and added Glossy Accents on the sun and flower and Stickles on the wings.

Dryer Sheet Flower - The Outlawz 9-25

I have been playing with this technique for a couple weeks since I learned about it in a class.  I took a used dryer sheet and die cut the flowers.  I sprayed Glimmer Mist on my craft sheet and then soaked the flowers in it.  When they dried, I was ablel to construct the three layer flower. I used a distress ink on the leaves, but it doesn't really show in the picture.  It does in real life.

This is for The Outlawz Color Challenge for September 25.  Laurian chose this color combination.

I used:
Kaisercraft Mary from the Belle Collection
Yellow marbled paper from my stash
Spellbinders leaf die
Evergreen Bough Distress Ink
Sizzix On The Edge die
Autumn Leaves brad
Hero Arts sentiment

The Outlawz Color Challenge 9-18

This was a cute image from Inky Impressions for the DT to use during the month of August.  I had used it in the card that I didn't pay attention to the twist until after I made the card and saw that it was supposed to be masculine.  So, I printed the image again and decided to use it for this week's challenge.  I colored it with Copics.  The dp is from the 6x6 Blissful collection by Authentique.  I embossed a piece of the yellow with Sizzix folder to add the texture.  The sentiment is from Hero Arts and is stamped with a punch from SU. I cut it again with grey and then cut the grey in half to shadow the yellow.

ODBD Challenge Sketch 122

On ODBD, this week's challenge: Use a bird or birds on your creation.

I used this cardinal from Heartfelt Creations.  I colored him with Copics, added a little Glossy Accents to his claws and beak and Liquid Pearls to the flower centers.  The sentiment is part of the stamp set.

Getting Ready for Christmas CBD

Crafting by Designs Getting Ready for Christmas September Edition is an "Anything Goes" card.  I just purchased the new Spellbinder A2 Polka Dot dies and wanted to give them a try.  I created this card with some old Christmas Basic Grey Fruitcase printed paper and some white cardstock.  The flowers are from a Bo Bunny kit I got some time ago.  The sentiment and rhinestone Christmas tree are from Kaisercraft.  The tree doesn't show up well in the picture.  It looks much better in real life.

MFP Sketch with a Twist 9-12

"Twist" for this week's challenge: Make a Card For a Friend

I made one slight change to the sketch.  I moved the embellie that was in the upper right of the sketch to the lower right because I felt it would be too crowded at the top.  The printed paper is from a 6x12 paper pad from Cricut.  The stamps are from cheap sets I got at Michaels ages ago.  The scalloped circles are made with a Marvy punch.  I found the precolored digi image on line at Dustin Pike's page.

The Outlawz Color Challenge 9/11

I pulled a sheet of ancient Sandy Lion paper from my stash for the background.  The cardstock is Recollections.  Stamps are from Inkadinkado.  Brads are We R Memory Keepers.

Lady Anne Paper Crafts 9/10/12

The color combination for this challenge is:

My card:

I tried to get as many colors from the combination into my card.  I ended up with both pinks, the yellow and the lavender.  That first color just didn't work for me.  The paper is Recollections and the ribbon was originally white, colored with my Copics to match the flower.  The image and sentiment are from Marks Finest Papers, a Heinrich Company.  It is from a set called Winter Crocus which I won in a challenge from that site.  Since I didn't have a clue what color a crocus was, I googled it and found several neat pictures.  It just so happened that there was a lavender one.  I colored it with Copics.  I cut the flower border with an EK Success punch.  The background was done with a Sizzix embossing folder.  Sentiment tag is punched with a SU punch.

Sparkly Twil with Flowers

The challenge for September Avadares is "Anything That Sparkles (use glitter, gems, etc. on your project)".
I used the Twil image from Sara Dawn and colored her with Copics.  I put Stickles on her wings and flowers to make them sparkle.  I made the cardbase out of Recollections white cardstock, then embossed a slightly smaller piece to complete the background.  I cut the image using Spellbinders Labels Twenty-Three and sponged the edges with Victorian Velvet Distress Ink.  The ribbon was a left over piece from another project.  I completed the sparkles with some bling.

The Outlawz Color Challenge 9-4

This was a fun challenge.  I didn't pay attention to the twist when I made the first card for it.  It was only when I was posting it on The Outlawz that I realized my mistake.  So, back to the drawing board to make a masculine card.  Actually, these colors lent themselves to a masculine card quite nicely.  I stamped La-La Land Sitting Luka and colored  him with Copics.  I popped him on the card, sitting on a piece of American Crafts ribbon and added the sentiment that came with the stamp set.  The cardstock papers are from my stash.  I added a piece of twine to make it even more masculine and to offset the piece of ribbon.  At least the ribbon is brown and looks more like a bench than a ribbon to me.

OWH Labor Day Weekend VCMP #10

The last of the 10 challenges in the VCMP is to make a card that represents your state.  I decided to use the state flower - poppy - and the state bird - quail. I used paper from the same Basic Grey and Making Memories 6x6 pads. I cut the labels with Spellbinders.  I found the image as a coloring page online.  I colored it with Copics.  The sentiment is from Hero Arts.

OWH Labor Day Weekend VCMP #9

The ninth challenge on OWH this weekend is to make a card using a long neglected tool.  I bought a paper piercing set months ago, put it away and promptly began to neglect it.  I pulled it out for this challenge.  All of the paper, image, ribbon and ink are from SU.  The pearls are from Want2Scrap.  I used a Hero Arts sentiment.

OWH Labor Day Weekend VCMP #9

The ninth challenge was to use a long neglected tool.  I bought the paper piercing set months ago and promptly put it away never to be used.  I pulled it out to use on this card.  All of the paper, ribbon, image and ink is from SU.  Pearls are from Want2Scrap.

OWH Labor Day Weekend VCMP #8

Challenge #8 challenge of making a sports themed card. You can use any sport.

I used this cute little girl soccer player from Bugaboo Stamps.  I colored it with Copics.  The dp is from a Basic Grey 6x6 pad I've had for a long time.  The blue is from a Memory Makers 6x6 pad.  I cut the sentiment banner with SU Bitty Banners and stamped a Hero Arts sentiment on it.  The scalloped ovals were cut with Spellbinders.

OWH Labor Day Weekend VCMP #7

Challenge #7:  The challenge is to make two Christmas cards -- an Any Hero Christmas card and a Christmas card for one of our heroes to send to a child.

OWH Labor Day Weekend Challenge #6

Challenge #6 was to use sketch #136.

I used more of the Indie 6x6 paper pack for this card.  Almost at the end of the pack.  I punched the stars with an old Creative Memories star punch.  The sentiment is from Hero Arts.

OWH Labor Day Weekend VCMP #5

The fifth challenge is to  create a western (cowboy or horse) card.  I used this digi image from Anne Fenton and colored him with Copics.  The shapes are cut with Sizzix dies.  The sentiment is computer generated.  The twine is from Hemptique.

OWH Labor Day Weekend VCMP #4

This challenge was to use the Triple Time Stamping Technique. I had seen this technique a couple weeks ago and tried it and fell in love with it.  In the meantime, Spellbinders came out with two sets of dies that will cut the proper sizes for this technique.  I purchased both sets and used only Set A on this card.  I will alternate A and B sets on my next one and see which one I like best.

OWH Labor Day Weekend VCMP #3

This challenge was to make a card with snowflakes that is NOT a Christmas card.  I had these panels colored from last Christmas card season and hadn't used them for cards yet.  So, I mounted them on cardbase, added a sentiment and some Liquid Pearl and a ribbon.

OWH Labor Day Weekend VCMP #2

The second challenge for Operation Write Home's Virtual Card Making Party is to ude this recipe:

1 image

2 patterned papers

3 words
I used two pattern papers from the Indie 6x6 pad that I have been using for my own personal challenge to make as many cards as possible out of one 6x6 pad.  The image is Balloon Luka from La-La Land Stamps.  The 3-word image is from Hero Arts.

OWH Labor Day VCMP #1

Over the Labor Day weekend, OWH is having a Virtual Card Making Party.  There will be several challenges.  The first challenge is to create cards which include either a Scripture verse, or an uplifting quote or sentiment.  I used the Word Art Wednesday Scripture verse for this card.  I will also enter it into the WAW challenge.
