Happy 50th

Donna and Bill are celebrating their 50th (golden) anniversary next month.  I wanted to make a card especially for them.  I have thought about it for several days and nothing came to mind.  This morning, I woke up early and couldn't go back to sleep because I was thinking about the card.  I sat at my scrap table and this is what came about after a couple hours.

The gold cardstock is from American Crafts, the white is GP110.  I used two different embossing folders and a Spellbinders die.  The sentiment is from Hero Arts and is stamped with gold Color Box.  The gold trim is from a spool I got at Scrapbooking Made Simple at Christmas last year.

Fun with a Mouse

I love the Freebie Friday stamps at Bugaboo Stamps.  They are usually really cute.  I got this cute little mouse this morning and decided to give it a try right away.  I printed out six of them and will use them for various cards.  I also decided that it was time to try a gatefold card.

I used a piece of black Recollections cardstock and lined it with white paper.  The colored piece is from my scraps and was just the right size for what I needed.  I colored him with Copics:  C1, C2,C3, C5, C7, G07.  The button was cut from a Martha Stewart punch and threaded with 6-strand embroidery thread.  The sentiment punch is from SU.  I made the sentiment on the computer.  I popped both the button and the sentiment for a little dimension.

OWH Midweek Throwdown - Monkeys

The theme this week was to use a monkey on your card.  I used the sketch for this past week #127.  I found this little guy on Dustin Pike's site a couple years ago.  It was precolored.  The greenish panel is done with three different colors of alcohol ink on photo paper.  Sentiment is from one of my favorite sets by The Paper Company.  I added some google eyes to the monkey.

A New Technique

Thhis morning, Splitcoast Stampers had a tutorial on their site about using Perfect Pearls and pop dots to make an embelllishment.  Since I have several tubs of Perfect Pearls and a ton of pop dots, I decided to try it.  It was a lot of fun albeit messy.  I managed to drop the white tub as I was putting it away.  Luckily most of it stayed on my lap and not on the carpet.  This is what I ended up with.  Not what I wanted from the start, but I needed to leave some room for the "pixels".  Next time I will use smaller pop dots.

Merry Monday 26

I decided to go with soft colors for the Merry Monday challenge this week.  The paper is from Basic Grey, ribbon is American Crafts.  I used a Sizzix Cut 'n Emboss folder for the snowflake and sanded it.  The bling snowflake is from Recollections.  It doesn't show well on the photo, but two of the corners have a Martha Stewart corner snowflake punch.

OWH 127

Doodly Pantry sponsored the challenge this week.  I had one DP digi stamp in my file so I pulled it out.  I tried something new with this card.  I was looking around at Michaels this morning and found 8x10 sheets of Duct Tape.  It came in several different designs.  I chose the red, orange, yellow, white combination purely because it was on sale.  I didn't want to pay full price until I knew whether or not I liked it.  I decided to try it on this card.  The inch strip on the right is the duct tape.  It is thin enough to work well.  The ribbon is from American Crafts.

The Outlawz Where In The World 2000 Celebration

Yippee, we reached 2000 members.  We are celebrating with a challenge to tell where all of our members are from.

Since I am from California, I chose to include the blue and gold state colors, along with the state flower - the poppy.  The twist for this challenge is to add something that identifies your area.  I found an outline of the state online and printed it out at a much smaller size.  I colored it gold for "The Golden State."  I also added some letters on the state to show our motto - "Eureka".

The card base is American Crafts Foil, the blue is Coredinations Dress Blues.  I used Hero Arts Delicate Blossom stamp set.  I stamped the smaller poppy on the blue with Memento Ink to be a shadow and the larger stamp on white GP110.  I used Copic markers Y13, Y15, Y17, G21, G24 and B0000 to color the poppies and Y30 for the state.  The letters are EK Success.  I popped the state with foam to give a little dimension.

The Outlawz Color Challenge 6-19

I used Recollections for the purple and black and Bazzill for the pink.  For the black background, I used a Sizzix embossing folder. The butterfly and sentiment background are cut with Spellbinders dies.  The pink edge die is from Martha Stewart.  The bling is Kaiser Craft.  Ribbon is from Michaels.

Dynamic Duos #7

My third card for today is for Dynamic Duos.  I enjoy doing the color challenge.

Stars and Stamps #126 - OWH

I used Basic Grey printed paper.  My bottom layer is black cardstock.  I also used black cardstock to make each other layer pop.  The bling is from Michaels dollar bin.  The green and white are from my scrap stash.  The stamps are Inkadinkado and Hero Arts.

Merry Monday #25

I enjoy entering the challenges at Merry Monday for Christmas cards.  I am building my stash of cards for Christmas between that site and my Wednesday class where we make Christmas cards on the first meeting of the month.  I used white cardstock for the base and the die cut.  The printed paper is from Hot Off the Press.  The image stamp is from a Recollections set and the sentiment from Kaiser Craft. The ribbon is some I purchased some time ago at Walmart.  Bling is from my stash.

This week our challenge theme is Things With Wings!

Once again, I used the decoupage technique.  The bird is 3 layers separated by very thin foam tape.  I distressed the craft paper base.  The sentiment is a sticker.

I used papers from the Six by Six by Minds Eye Darling Dear Collection.  The flower is by Prima; die cut by Spellbinders; sentment stamp by The Paper Company; brad from my stash.

The Outlawz Color Challenge 6-12

I used a card I saw on the Bugaboo blog as my inpiration for this card.  I used the scrappy background technique from Cara who posted it on Stars and Stamps.  The bear is from the Bugaboo free digi site.  I colored him with Copics and added Glossy Accents to his wings.  I cut the grass with the Sizzix long grass die.  The flower is Prima and the butterfly is from Michaels. I made the fence by cutting 1/4" strips from the white paper.  The sentiment is from Impression Obsession.  It took a lot longer than I usually spend on making a card, but I really like the outcome and will do it again, I'm sure.

365 Cards Day 102 Super Sunday Sketch

Brown cardstock forms the base.  The first layer is craft paper which I stamped with the Hero Arts Designer Woodgrain stamp.  The striped paper is from Daisy Bucket designs.  I used both sides - one was striped, the other just a mottled orange. The image is from Anne Fenton from The Outlawz.  I colored it with Copics.  The sentiment is from Hero Arts Year Round Sentiment set.

OWH Stars and Stamps #125

I pulled the printed paper from my scraps.  I believe it is a Recollections paper.  Some day maybe I will get to the end of the scraps, but it seems they multiply like the loaves and fishes.  The green and the white  cs are from Recollections also.  The letters are from the same set I used in another card yesterday.  I have had this set of letter stamps for several years and just keep moving it from  one place to another on the shelf, never using it.  This card and the one I did yesterday just called its name.  So from never using it to twice in two days -- well.

The Sweet Stop SSS162

Once more I looked to my stash and found this masculine looking ancient Creative Memories paper.  I used Recollections white as the card base and craft paper for the frames.  The digi stamp is from The Digi Street.  I colored the image with Prismacolor pencils.  Sentiment is from one of my favorite stamp sets from The Paper Company from several years ago.  I have used it so much, that I had to buy another set recently.

CAS-ual Fridays

The challenge:  Create a CAS card with polka dots.

After a week of not doing cards, I was quite eager to get back to it today.  I entered several challenges and also did a couple cards that I don't enter.

This was a really easy challenge.  I pulled a piece of blue and white dotted paper from my scraps, stamped the image right onto the paper and added a ribbon.    It is really clean and simple.

Dynamic Duos

The pink paper is from Basic Grey and the grey paper is from Cloud 9.  I used a Martha Stewart punch for the punched area.  Sizzix dies cut the tags.  I have had this stamp set of just the letters of the alphabet forever and have never used it.  I decided to get it out and use it today.  Some bling and a piece of ribbon from my stash put the finishing touches on the card.

Friday Mash Up

I used the new 6x6 inch pad I bought this morning at SMS.  It is by Authentique, Carefree Collection.  The die was cut with Spellbinders.  The bird is from an old Autumn Leaves set.  I colored the bird with Copics and added a little distress ink to make the image stand out.  I distressed the card base with Distress Ink.  The sentiment is from an Impression Obsession set.

OWH ODBD for June

The challenge was to do a card that was not square or round.  I cut the pieces with Spellbinders.  The image and sentiment are Hero Arts stamps.  I used Distress Ink on the sentiment. I colored the image with Copics.  Two brads and a piece of ribbon and it was finished.

The Outlawz Color Challenge 6-5

The challenge:

My card:

Materials Used:

Cardstock: Recollections, GP110, DCWV
Sentiment: Hero Arts
Image: Digi Street
Ribbon: Unknown
Copic Markers
Geometric: Spellbinders oval and scalloped oval dies

I would love to know why the original card shows the colors truer to what the color scheme is.  I need to work in Photoshop to find a way to make it come out better.

CAS-ual Fridays 6-1-12

CFC55: Show us your Clean And Simple stylings with bling. We're looking for gemstones, glitter, anything that will make your projects sparkle.

I used a piece of cream cardstock for the base.  I cut the bottom edge of the front of the card with a Martha Stewart punch.  I repeated the punch using an olive green paper.  I left about a quarter inch of green and trimmed it to fit the card.  I used a strip of bling from Want2Scrap for the bling requirement.  I ran the green through a dotted embossing folder, then cut the heart shape with the Lifestyle Crafts Three-in-One Heart die.  I cut the second one in white.  I deliberately embossed the green before cutting with the die so that the impression would be flattened a little.  The sentiment is from KaiserCraft.

Friday Mash-Up

So here is the "Mashup" Challenge :

1. Make a project using " Scraps of Pattern Paper or Ribbons ".

2. Or Make a " Scrapling ". (A scrapling is a little card, notecard, or tag that you would make out of the scraps that are left from your card stock after making a square card. )

3. Or "Mash it Up" and create a " Scrapling using Scraps or Pattern Paper or Ribbons. ".

I made a scrapling.  I pulled some scraps of cardstock and a tiny piece of ribbon.  I cut the butterfly with Martha Stewart's butterfly punch and used a stamp that had "Just" before the "for You."  I only stamped the "for you" so I could use it as a tag on a gift.  I added a little Inkssentials black Enamel Accent to the body of the butterfly.  This challenge was super simple because I use mostly scraps to make my cards anyway.

Stars and Stamps #124

Yesterday at Scrapbooking Made Simple we did a very easy Make and Take.  It used decoupage.  It doesn't show in the picture, but the bird image is actually 3 layers.  I layered it onto a piece of orange then black.  The ribbon is from American Crafts and the sentiment is Hero Arts.  I popped the sentiment to make it the same depth as the bird image.  All of the cardstock is from my scraps.  Someday maybe I'll use up all the scraps, but it seems I just end up making more when I do other projects.

Stampin' Sisters in Christ #142

The challenge:  Create a card that depicts any element of heaven—angels, music, clouds, sun, stars, blue, glitter, bling, etc.

I used music dp, a square bling from Little Yellow Bicycle, the flower bling from Michaels.  I used a scrap piece of grosgrain ribbon.  I taped it at the top and bottom on the back and then tied two small pieces to it.  I would usually have used three pieces and no bling, but I didn't have any more ribbon.  Besides, the challenge said I could use bling.

Happy Fourth

This challenge is for Dynamic Duos #5 and The Sweet Stop sketch SSS 161.

Materials Used:

Cardstock: Recollections
Image Stamp: Great Impressions
Sentiment Stamp: My Pink Stamper
Doily & Ribbon: Michaels

Distressing - TTCRD #27

This is my first entry into Through The ClassvRoom Door.  The challenge is:  Any form of distressing.

I used kraft paper as my base.  The dp is Jillibean Soup.  The flower is Prima and the two backgrounds for the flower are just from my scrap pile.  I used a Hero Arts stamp for the sentiment and Tim Holtz Distress Ink to distress the edges and flowers.  The brad is from my stash.  I distressed the edges of the orange with the Tim Holtz distressing tool.
