The Paper Players #97

In searching for some challenges to enter, I found this site.  So, now I have added another site to my growing list.  I liked their sketches so I decided to try it.

The patterned paper is from one sheet of  Echo Park Hello Summer 6x6 paper pack.  The cardstock is Recollections.  I stamped it with a JustRite stamp and added a bling flower from Michaels $1 bin.  The ribbon was in my stash.  I cut the shapes with Spellbinders Scalloped Circles.

Freshly Made Sketches #37

Papers from my scrap pile, stamp Denami Design, colored with Copics.  Sentiment is from The Paper Company.  Die cuts were done with Spellbinders Scalloped Ovals.  I realized when I uploaded the picture into the post that I put the green strip on backwards.  I meant to put the scallops to the outside.  I will turn it around in subsequent cards, but it is stuck too hard to do it on this one.

CPS Sketch 267

For this card, I used a piece of printed paper from my stash.  I've had it for so long, that I no longer remember who made it.  I used a piece of yellow from my scraps.  Ribbon from American Crafts, sentiment stamp from Hero Arts.  Image is an SU  stamp from Zoo Review.  I colored it with Copics.

OWH Midweek Throwdown

The color challenge for this week:

Materials in this tag:

Recollections cardstock
KaiserCraft printed paper
Decollections lace tape
Butterfly from the LSS
Ribbon from the LSS

Materials Used:

Kraft paper
Making Memories DP

Sentiment: Sweet 'n Sassy

I popped the sentiment to give it a little dimension.

A New Technique

Materials:  Stampendous Cling Jumbo Iris stamp
Watercolor Paper
Versamark Watermark Stamp Pad
Stampendous Detail Black Eembossing Powder
Prismacolor Watercolor Pencils
Elizabeth Craft Designs Outline Sentiment Sticker

Stacey from Scrapbooking Made Simple put this into a You Tube.  The image is stamped with the Versamark.  Then add the embossing powder and heat set it.  Using watercolor pencils, color in the image.  Then use water and a thin paint brush to move the color around and blend it.  I cut the image out after I colored it.  The background is also done on watercolor paper using the same technique.  I just scribbled the colors on and then used the wet brush to blend them in.  I popped the image on the background and added the sentiment.  It took a little time, but I'm sure the next time I do it, it will be quicker and easier.

OWH Stars and Stamps Bonus

Finishing up the remnants from the scrapbooking page.  I have made three cards with just the scraps from the page.  I used Recollections cardstock, Basic Grey dp, Spellbinders die, distress ink.

OWH Midweek Throwdown

The challenge this week is to make a "love" card.  I have had this image stamped for quite awhile so I thought I would color it and use it.  I originally stamped the "I love you" on the sand, but it kind of got lost so I stamped it on white, backed it with the same color as the frame and popped it over the old stamp.  I have used this image before and I know I'll use it again.  It is one of my favorites.

The background stamp is from The Peddler's Pack, the sentiment is Hero Arts and I colored it with Copic markers.

A Different Technique

Last week, Splitcoast Stampers had a resist technique that I thought I would try.  I have done other resists, but this one used Goosebumps.  I happen to have some in my stash so I thought I would give it a try.  I was a little skeptical about spraying the Goosebumps directly on the stamp so I pulled a stamp that I didn't care if it got ruined. (It didn't)  Instead of Mememto Ink that was used in the tutorial, I used Distress Ink, then rubbed over the stamped image with a soft tissue to remove the excess. I worked fine so I trimmed the stamped image and made a card with it.  The cardstock is Bazzill. A little piece of ribbon from my stash and a decorative brad, Hero Arts sentiment stamp and my card was finished.  Into the OWH box it goes.

The Outlawz Color Challenge 5-22

The twist was to add inking or painting technique.  I used a technique that I have come to love from Tim Holtz's recent online class on using inks.  I sponged the distress inks onto the cardstock, then flicked water onto it to make the drops.  I used the distress tool to distress the edges.  I backed the image panel with black to carry through with the black of the flower.  A "miss you" sentiment and it is ready for the OWH box for this month.

Materials used:

Recollections cardstock
Tim Holtz Distress Ink: Squeezed Lemonade, Spun Sugar, Ripe Persimmon
Tim Holtz Distressing Tool
Elizabeth Craft Designs Lotus Flower Peel & Stick - I used the negative
Hero Arts Year Round Sentiment stamp
Ribbon from my stash

A Case of Outright Theft

I saw this card on CAS-ual Fridays and it just jumped right off the screen to me.  I didn't pay any attention to who did it until her blog came up on the screen.  I decided right then and there that I absolutely had to CASE this card.  I love the layout and the colors are among my favorite color combinations.  Thanks to Berni for submitting this to CAS-ual Fridays.  I just love it.  Here is her card.

and here is what I created with just a couple differences.

I decided to do a card that can be either a thank you card or an Any Hero card.  I used a sketch from a make 'n take at Scrapbooking Made Simple a couple weeks ago as my inspiration.  I didn't follow it exactly, but it is recognizable.  The stamp I used from Stampers Best is E Pluribus Unum.

Materials used:
Recollections black cardstock. Prima dp
GSP 110 white cardstock
Ranger Archival Ink Jet Black stamp pad
Stamps: Stampers Best E Pluribus Unum stamp, and My Pink Stamper sentiment

The stamps we are using for this skip are from Stampers Best. Usually they donate $1.00 from the sale of each stamp set they have made with OWH in mind. However, this weekend here is what they are offering:

1) StampersBest will DOUBLE the donation to OWH for any fundraiser stamps purchased this weekend, i.e. for each fundraiser stamp sold, $2 will go to OWH!

2) For every order that includes an OWH Fundraiser stamp, you get a FREE Statue of Liberty Cling Stamp

3) As always, all orders over $35 get free shipping (USA). As a BONUS offer, any orders over $35 that include at least 1 OWH Fundraiser stamp, will also receive a FREE 3-Pack of Clear Cling Stamp Storage Cards ($5 value).  Check them out here at Stampers Best

These specials apply to orders placed Saturday, Sunday and Monday only.

Leave me a comment and then skip on over to Cindy's blog to continue the skip.

OWH Midweek Throwdown

This week our theme is a color challenge! We're challenging you to make cards using tropical colors.

I not only used tropical colors, but I used a technique from Maile Belles.

I pulled papers from my scrap pile.  I embossed with a Hero Arts stamp and Stampendous Winter Wonderland embossing powder.  The ribbon is from Michaels.  I cut the piece with Spellbinders and stamped with a Hero Arts sentiment.

Playing With New Stamps

I decided to play with my new Our Daily Bread Designs stamps.  I followed the challenge for May on their blog although I had already submitted a card.  The challenge was to use five elements on the card in honor of Cinco de Mayo.

I used
1) Bo Bunny Liberty Collection printed paper
2) ODBD stamped sentiment
3) Spellbinders Star Circles die
4) Red star ribbon from Michaels
5) Bling from Michaels
6) Faded Jeans Distress Ink

I popped the sentiment die cut for a little dimension.
