Outlawz Paper a la Mode Challenge 4-28

The challenge was to use a die - any die.  I used the daisy die from Sizzix.  I cut it twice in different papers.  Then I spritzed the flowers and curled them in my hand.  I alternated the two and put a half pearl in the middle.  The ribbon is pink and white although it doesn't show up that well when I scanned it.  I embossed the background panel.  The sentiment is from Hero Arts and the panel for the sentiment is cut from a Spellbinder die and sponged with Distress Ink.

A Couple of Challenges

After I had not made a card for over two weeks, I was having card-making withdrawals.  I checked out my two favorite challenge sites, OWH Stars & Stamps Sunday challenge and The Outlawz Monday Greetings challenge.  Luckily, I could combine both challenges.

I'm Back

I have been gone for the last 2+ weeks to the most fantastic cruise I have taken yet.  My friend and I cruised the Panama Canal.  Our cruise took us from Miami, FL to South America through the Panama Canal to Central America and Mexico and then home to Los Angeles.  It was wonderful and now I am ready to get back to making cards.

Christmas in April

At Christmas, I cut out enough material to make about 15 of these cards.  I made one and put the rest aside and promptly forgot about them.  I found them this morning and decided to put them together so that they will be ready for my OWH Christmas box later this year.  I rearranged the layout a little from my original card to make room for the sentiment.  I like this version much better.  The paper is all from my stash and/or scrap pile.  I found the little pre-colored, digi snowman online last year, but neglected to indicate who made it.  The sentiment stamp is from Kaisercraft.  The green trees are colored with Copics. The background is embossed with a Sizzix snowflake embossing folder.

The Outlawz Wednesday Sketch 4-11

I used Kaiser Kraft papers for this card.  The die cuts are Spellbinders.

Mojo Monday 4-10

I guess I'm in kind of a pink mood.  The cards I made for OWH and CBD were pink and I still had the  Basic Grey papers on my scrap table.  This is Basic Grey except for the base and die cut which are GP110.  The ribbon is from a 10-yard hunk I bought at a garage sale after the first of the year.  The stamp is JustRite, die cut is Spellbinders and I used Victorian Velvet Distress Ink.  This will be the first card in a new box I am starting for OWH.

M is for Marci

I'm getting an early start on winter with this card.  Today's challenge for The Outlawz is to use something in your card beginning with the first letter of your name.  I had colored a bunch of these Marci stamps during the winter to use for next year.  What better time to pull one out and use it.  Of course the green in the background  and the Basic Grey paper cover both of my initials.  I cut Marci out and popped her to give a little dimension.

Materials used:
LaLa Land Snowboard Snowboard Marci stamp
Basic Grey cardstock
unknown ribbon
Copics Markers

The Outlawz Paper a la Mode 4/7/12

I am about ready to send a box of cards to OWH.  I needed to make some Any Hero cards.  Today's challenge is Inspirational Quote - let your quote take center stage.  I love this quote so it was an easy decision.

I used my new framelits from SU; dp from K&Company; ribbon from Michaels.  I think the stamp is from the Pink Stamper, but I could be wrong.

Brushless Watercolor Technique

Tim Holtz's second project was called brushless watercolor.  I played around with it and didn't like the tag I made so I decided to try it again.  I was very happy with my second attempt and turned it into a card for OWH.

I used:
Strathmore watercolor paper
Seedless Preserves, Mustard Seed and Peeled Paint Distress Inks
La Blanche Stamp
Hero Arts Sentiment
Ribbon from Michaels
Recollections cardstock

Thank You

Just using up some Spring-y scraps.  I made this card as one of the set of four for Newcomers this month.  It fits the qualifications for The Outlawz challenge to use pastels.  It's all scraps from my vast collection of scraps.

OWH Midweek Throwdown

The challenge was a card with a Thinking of You sentiment.  I still have a lot of the papers left that I made for the Tim  Holtz first lesson in his latest Creative Chemistry 101 class, which was using Distress Ink and splashing water on it.  This has become my latest favorite technique.  I just love the look it gives.  I played around with several color combinations and amounts of water splashed on it.  For the flower I used my new Spellbinders Aster Flower Topper dies and used a little distress ink to stencil it.  The ribbon is from Michaels.  Sentiment is a Impressions Obsession stamp.

Twisted Thursday 4512

The Outlawz Twisted Thursday challenge for today is Anything Goes with a Twist of Easter.  I used some of the paper I had left over from the Tim Holtz challenge for the Distress Ink with a spritz of water to cut the flowers and the sentiment.  Then I put the paper I cut the flowers from as a layer on the card.  The flowers are Spell inders Aster Flower Topper which I just got yesterday.  After I took the picture, I added some Glossy Essentials to the center of the flower.  The ribbon is from the LSS and I don't have a maker name.  I am just crazy about the TH technique I used.

The Outlawz Sketch 4/4/12

I had these papers still on my table from yesterday.  It was fun to use the pieces that I left over.  I used my Spellbinders to cut and emboss the shapes. Color Box Mermaid to color the stenciled border and ribbon from Michaels.

ODBD for April

I shamelessly CASE'd this one from Joy Holloway on Tim Holtz's cards for the Creative Chemistry 101 class.  I used the same design, but different stamps and of course, different colors.  It was from his recent online class on markers and inks techniques.  This was from the first lesson - Blended Distress/Spritz & Flick Technique.  I really liked this technique.  It was fun and easy and I look forward to doing it many more times.

Recollections paper
Distress Ink pads of various colors
Just Rite Shabby Music Background Stamp
Tim Holtz Stampers Anonymous sentiment stamp
Martha Stewart butterfly punch

The Outlawz CAS 4/1

The challenge was a CAS card that is "youthful".

OWH Sketch 115

I think I am going to go back to taking a photo of my cards rather than scanning them.  The colors never seem to scan right.  This card is monochromatic browns. The big square is not as awful looking as it is in this picture.  It's a shiny brown.

Sandy had a request from a base to send more "brown" cards.  I decided to go all brown in this one hoping it meets his request.  The base is kraft and the inch strip is cork.  The other browns are from my scrap folder.  I used distress ink around the edge.

Happy Birthday

This card is for Sweet Stop Sketch Challenge SSS152.  I straightened the box after I scanned it.  It looked straight to me at first, but then I decided it needed to be tweaked a little bit.  I don't know who made the blue paper.  I found it in my stash.  It is quite thick and deeply embossed.  I have several colors.  The stamps are SU.
